Student mobility creates opportunities for intercultural growth, but meaningful learning does not happen automatically. How can universities better support students before departure and help them reflect afterwards so that intercultural competences are not only experienced, but consolidated and carried forward?
From Preparation to Reflection: Unlocking the Intercultural Potential through Student Mobility
PADMICA Final Conference & Interactive Workshop
Brussels | 13–14 October 2026
Join us for this practice-oriented event exploring how higher education institutions can strengthen the intercultural dimension of mobility across the full student journey. Through real examples and hands-on exploration, participants will discover how structured preparation and post-mobility reflection work together to maximise the learning potential of mobility experiences.
At the centre of the event are the practical outputs developed through PADMICA: a set of ready-to-use, adaptable intercultural learning modules, designed to support students before and after mobility, together with facilitation resources and a Train-the-Trainer approach for institutional implementation. Flexible in format and adaptable to different institutional realities, the modules can be integrated into existing mobility workflows and used across a wide range of higher education contexts.
By attending, participants will:
- gain insights on intercultural learning;
- discover adaptable modules that can be implemented and tailored across different university contexts;
- experience examples of preparation and reflection activities from the learner perspective;
- explore practical approaches to embedding intercultural learning into existing mobility processes;
- leave with ideas, and concrete next steps for introducing or strengthening intercultural support at their institution.
Join our one-day conference (13 October) and explore the bigger picture: current challenges of meaningful mobility support, institutional experiences, and opportunities for embedding intercultural learning into mobility workflows.
Then continue with the half-day interactive workshop (14 October) to experience selected demo exercises from the learner perspective, and explore the Train-the-Trainer approach.
The conference and workshop are designed to complement each other, but participants are welcome to register for either event individually or both together.
You can view the live agenda here.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
This event serves as the closing conference of the PADMICA project and forms part of the Higher Education Transformation Week.
