According to recent studies, intercultural interventions before, during, and after the study abroad experience are crucial for the learning and development of students. Despite this, only a limited number of HEIs have adopted these valuable practices. Currently, 40% offer pre-mobility courses and training that go beyond logistical, health, safety, and academic concerns, focusing on intercultural aspects.
However, only 19% of HEIs provide interventions during mobility, and a mere 15% offer post-mobility support, highlighting significant opportunities for improvement in this area. The primary barriers to implementing these practices include a lack of resources (both material and human), insufficient student interest and participation, and a lack of support from management.
A report with detailed data and analysis from the survey on good practices, implemented in the PADMICA project, will be available soon!
